Jolie-Pitt Baby Photos Sale To Benefit Charity — Major Donors Don’t Get Better Than Ths

Pshaw to People magazine. Brad and Angelina made The New York Times today, with their announcement to release photos of their newborn daughter Shiloh Nouvel and donate all profits to a to-be-named charity. The images, taken at a private photo shoot, will be distributed by the photo agency Getty Images, which is working on a pro bono basis on this sale.

The celebrity couple said in a joint statement, "While we celebrate the joy of the birth of our daughter, we recognize that two million babies born every year in the developing world die on the first day of their lives. These children can be saved, but only if governments around the world make it priority."

This gift is in addition to the more than $300,00 that Brad and Angelina contributed for improvement in Namibia’s (where the baby was born) infant health.

Like Joey Cheek, but far bigger a draw, Angelina (and now Brad) knows how to make the most of her giving, and her volunteer work. In doing so, she piques the interests of celebrity hounds and just everyday folks, around the world, and most likely motivates others to get involved.

All I can say is that she’s come a far way in getting attention — from wearing a vial of Billy Bob Thornton’s (he’s Angelina’s ex) blood as a necklace to this powerful, meaningful use of her celebrity. Keep it up Angelina and Brad. We need more celebrities like you.
