I’m Checking Out for Vacation, So My Brain Can Tune Back In

I'm Checking Out for Vacation, So My Brain Can Tune Back InIn response to repeated requests of our daughter, Charlotte, I’m taking two work-free weeks off to vacation with her and my husband, Sean, in Wellfleet, Cape Cod.

You see, my brain is tired, and this is a wonderful opportunity to rejeuvenate it; to boot it out of repetitive thinking into fresh fields.

As writer Benedict Carey so perfectly stated in his Mind column in last week’s New York Times, "boredom may allow the brain to recast the world in productive and creative ways."

Not that I’m seeking boredom, but I’m definitely open to a bit of it creeping in between the hiking, swimming, lobsterfests and napping!

I’ll report back after Labor Day.

Fondly,
Nancy
