Your Big Dream for 2013?
Nonprofit Blog Carnival Wants to Know

I’m honored to host 2013’s first Nonprofit Blog Carnival, on your big dream for your organization, cause or the nonprofit community this year, and how you’ll get there.

Please join the carnival. Just describe your dream and how you plan to make it real in a blog post or article. Email the post permalink, your name and the blog name to  nonprofitcarnival@gmail.com by COB January 28.

My January dreams (and resolutions I hope will lead there) are always tuned to the words of Martin Luther King, thanks to my dad, Manny Schwartz (that’s us in the photo).

My father spoke frequently about King’s “I Have a Dream” speech—his transformative call for racial equality—from the time I was small. He had been deeply moved by King’s words at the March on Washington in the summer of 1963, and that experience nourished his lifelong volunteerism.

Here’s my big dream for this year. I’m working now on strategies for making it real.

Right now—when many of us are charged up by holiday rest, good times with family and friends, and the in-your-face opportunity to frame the year to come—is the time to dream big and outline the steps to bringing those dreams to life.Your dream may be:

  • Seeing critical progress on the issue closest to your heart
  • Getting the funding it takes for your organization to contribute to its full potential
  • Changing public perception of the issue you work on
  • Or even a new turn for your nonprofit or the nonprofit sector.

Email details by day end Monday, January 28 to nonprofitcarnival@gmail.com (include the permalink of your post, your name and blog name). I’ll publish the post on Thursday, January 31. Check back then to see if your post is featured.

P.S. Here are your big dreams for 2012. How did you do?

P.P.S. What is a Nonprofit Blog Carnival?
It is a monthly round-up of blog posts on topics relevant to the nonprofit community. Each month’s host develops a theme then rallies for posts on that topic. Then the host compiles a selection submissions and publishes them round-up post towards the end of that month. If your post is selected for the carnival, you’ll drive new traffic to your blog and help raise its online profile.

Sign up here to get twice-monthly Nonprofit Blog Carnival Updates about upcoming Carnivals and submission deadlines.
