When is a Postcard More than Just a Postcard?

Sometimes a postcard is just the right tool to let a donor know about a special event, alert a client about a new service, or prep partner advocacy organizations on a campaign launch.

As a matter of fact, I’ve found that it works to sprinkle the occasional postcard (assuming it’s powerfully graphic) into any ongoing drip communications program. What’s new is that it’s easier to do than ever.

A favorite designer recently told me about Amazing Mail, a postcard automation service. Here’s how it works:

  • You upload your artwork (which to have graphic punch — these services offer a choice of free artwork if you have nothing better), upload your list, and hit send.
  • Amazing Mail prints, sorts and sends.
  • The postcards are in the mail the following day.

Even better, you can have multiple designs and multiple use cards, such as a thank you or a reminder of some event, and you can send 1, 450, 1,000 or more cards.

Competitor Remarkable Mail will even interface with your donor management or CRM software and allow you to set up automated campaigns.

There is a cost for this convenience, but it’s relatively cheap and very fast. Try it once, and let me know how it goes.
