Feeling Isolated, Overwhelmed or Frustrated?

Ugh! That’s how I feel sometimes as I’m working, working, working to push forward on so many fronts—client projects, speaking presentations, new training programs and managing our part-time coordinator and team of freelancers, among others.

It feels very tough sometimes, especially when I’m overwhelmed by way too many things to do with the time and head space I have.

I think you see what I mean.

Based on what I hear from many marketers and fundraisers like you, you and I  have lots in common that way, even as we have our differences.

You’re a staff communicator or fundraiser, a staffer with those responsibilities among others or a consultant in those areas. Whichever situation you’re in, so many of you have told me of feeling isolated, frustrated and/or overwhelmed. “No one gets, or values, my work” and “I have no one to bounce ideas off, brainstorm with, or learn from” are what you’ve shared most frequently. I get it.

I’m a solopreneur, and so have chosen to work in a way that’s somewhat isolated by definition. My career approach is driven by my passion for adventurous learning, working on many different causes and in many contexts, and the no-brainer opportunities I’ve had at critical points in my career. I love it and I sometimes find it isolating, overwhelming or frustrating.

After doing some hard thinking on this challenge we share, I realize that we have the to guide and energize each other, and the potential to propel each other out of that isolation or frustration. I hope you’ll join me!

I’m going to start blogging on this topic frequently, and thinking hard about the ways we can help support, guide and energize each other. Hope you’ll join me. Thanks!
